On 30 November 2021, Te Rau Ora launched their Ngā Mihi digital campaign as an expression of gratitude and Aroha for our frontline health and essential workforces.
The COVID 19 pandemic has changed the lives of many people in Aotearoa. Throughout this time, individuals, whānau and communities have demonstrated care and resilience in navigating the challenges of these unexpected events. The many innovative responses within Māori providers have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.
Māori Providers have a crucial role in COVID-19 vaccinations – not just for Māori but for all people within their communities. Māori Providers like Te Whānau o Waipareira Trust have provided over 124,000 vaccinations in their community. These efforts are repeated by Māori providers in every community across Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Peer Networks, Whānau and Friends have also played a significant role in the health and wellbeing of loved ones. The psychosocial impacts from COVID-19 are starting to be felt in all corners of our society. Our social networks help to alleviate our stress and anxiety through care, support, kindness, and Aroha. They are an essential component to our ongoing wellbeing.
Through the campaign we are inviting whānau to share their messages of Aroha to the people and services that have supported them throughout COVID-19.
