Te Rau Ora Annual Report 2022
Mā ā te huruhuru ka rere te manu: Adorn the bird with feathers so it may soar.
Ngā Tuakana ma, e ngā Hoa, Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa
2022 has been a year of many celebrations. Our country celebrated Matariki for the first time as a Public Holiday! In addition, the education and health system reforms got underway and are showing new opportunities for Māori.
Likewise, for Te Rau Ora, our year has been rich with milestones. We started our year with a 20th-year celebration, taking the opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and challenges. But, more importantly, to acknowledge the many people, whānau, hapū, iwi, organisations and communities that have been part of our world and the journey to get to where we are now.
We intensified our digital presence, created the Ngā Mihi Campaign, Kemu ( a new Hauora quiz) and held a month-long Te Marama o Toitu Hauora Forum overall, reaching nearly two million people.
Our Whakanuia campaign on our social media also lifted the visibility of many Māori Leaders
As the CEO of this unique Indigenous Organisation, there are so many rich insights of this year, the many kaupapa within the past 20 years, and the transformational impacts of this mahi.
Alike the whakataukī Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu, with my hand on my heart, I am confident that what we are doing is indeed strengthening Māori Health and Wellbeing at its core.
Taa Mason Durie is the inspiration of Te Rau Ora. I am grateful to him and other Māori Leaders of our time for their vision and kaha.
It has been a real privilege to help translate ngā moemoea into reality and to do so with the wonderful talents, skills and experiences of dynamic teams. I want to personally thank you, Te Rau Ora, our Board of Directors, our kaimahi, the whānau whanui and friends across the motu. It is with my utmost pleasure to present this Annual Report for 2022.
